My Story
Hello! I’m Shannon—a homeschooling mom and part-time artist living in Washington with my husband, two little boys, and fuzzy red dog.
Art was my first real passion as a kid. I discovered charcoal and pastel in high school and I was hooked. When I wasn’t buried in a book, I was making art. I dreamed of attending an art college. Instead, I took what I deemed to be a more practical route at the time—studying English and becoming a technical writer.
I had my first boy shortly before the pandemic and decided to step away from my tech writing career to stay home with my baby. The anxiety that came with being a first-time mom during a global pandemic pushed me to draw again, and I could never have imagined where that would lead.
I use soft pastels to create lively yet muted floral and still life drawings. I’m inspired by simple, everyday beauty like fresh flowers in a vase or ripe fruit in a vintage bowl. Most of my drawings are done from real life and are intimate in both scale and subject. For example, the flowers I draw are from local flower farms or ones we discover on our neighborhood walks.
If you’re looking to add warmth and character to your space, I’d be honored to help you find a piece for your home. Thank you for being here and supporting my small business!
